[jira] Created: (SOLR-2189) QP can't represent a literal * in range

JIRA jira@apache.org
QP can't represent a literal * in range
---------------------------------------

                 Key: SOLR-2189
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-2189
             Project: Solr
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: search
            Reporter: Yonik Seeley
            Priority: Minor

Because Solr gets the endpoints after they have been stripped, it can't tell the difference between
*, \*, and "*", so there is no way to actually represent a literal asterisk in a range query.
