[jira] Created: (TIKA-215) Use a thread pool in ParsingReader

JIRA jira@apache.org
Use a thread pool in ParsingReader
----------------------------------

                 Key: TIKA-215
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TIKA-215
             Project: Tika
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: parser
            Reporter: Jukka Zitting

Currently a new thread is created for each new ParsingReader instance. For better performance and manageability it would be good if the thread was allocated from a configurable thread pool.

[jira] Resolved: (TIKA-215) Use a thread pool in ParsingReader

JIRA jira@apache.org

Jukka Zitting resolved TIKA-215.
--------------------------------

       Resolution: Fixed
    Fix Version/s: 0.4
         Assignee: Jukka Zitting

Implemented in revision 768819.

You can now (optionally) specify a java.uti.concurrent.Executor when creating a ParsingReader instance. This executor is used to execute the background parsing task. The only extra constraint beyond the standard Executor contract is that the executor *must* run the task asynchronously in a separate thread.
