8.1.2 bug fix release

caomanhdat
Hi,

Just right after the 8.1.1 release has been published we’ve discovered a serious bug in BasicAuthentication which affect all released versions of Solr including 8.0, 8.1, 8.1.1. Details of the bug can be found in SOLR-13510.

I’m volunteering to do this release, if there are no objections, and I’d like to create a RC early next week.

Hi David, yeah sure, that bug fix seems important.
I also want to do the upgrade Jetty 9.4.19 for 8.1.2 (fix: SOLR-13413). Do you guys have any objections?

+1 to 8.1.2 and the Jetty upgrade. FYI Erick created https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-13541 specifically for the Jetty upgrade.

Have we vetted all other changes to Jetty? Are we sure that they don't introduce a different regression?

Re: 8.1.2 bug fix release

Hi Ishan,

If upgrade Jetty seems too much for a bug fix release, I will try to upgrade only part that affect SOLR-13413 (one module). Then see how tests will behave then. Does that sound good?

Hi,

I would like to backport bug fix LUCENE-8775 that fixes some failures in the polygon Tessellator when a polygon contain a hole sharing a vertex with the polygon. Is that ok?

Thanks,

Ignacio, I think you need to move the entry in lucene/CHANGES.txt for this issue to the 8.1.2 section, not just in branch_8_1 but consistenly on master and on branch_8x?

Re: 8.1.2 bug fix release

Andrzej Białecki-2
I just created SOLR-13583 and I’ll be working on a fix. This is a serious bug, both in the way it prevents the old collection deletion and it also may lead to data loss when used with REINDEXCOLLECTION and removeSource=true.

Unfortunately, my schedule today and over the weekend was already full as it was, so realistically speaking I can work on this on Monday - unless someone else bets me to it.

So if there is more time I would like to backport bug fix LUCENE-8831 which is just fixing the hashcode method for LatLonShapeBoundingBox query. Is that ok?
