[DISCUSS] Release Apache Nutch 1.10

lewis john mcgibbney
52 of 211 issues assigned against 1.10 looks pretty good to me and I would be +1 for pushing a release.
Does anyone want to get any tickets in there? Does anyone have objections to releasing?
Thanks
Lewis

Not sure if this is what we want the next trunk versioning to look like, however it is an OK placeholder for the time being I hope.
If folks would like to see some particular patch make it in to trunk before 1.10 then by all means please re-assign it to 1.10 and we can review and get them in.
Thanks very much folks.

I'd like to see TIKA-1925, but I'm having trouble building Nutch on my machine. So, no update yet.

Ah yes indeed. NUTCH-1925 should be a blocker. The new Tika carries an updated PDFBox 1.8.8 with significant memory handing improvements on PDF's.

Re: [DISCUSS] Release Apache Nutch 1.10

Hi all,

want to bring this on the agenda again. It's time
- NUTCH-1925 (upgrade Tika) is done
- we have 8 remaining issues [1]
   - they either are (relate to) new features
(common crawl dumper, docker file, urlnormalizer-slash)
   - or minor issues or improvements which could possibly be delayed
- we already have a long list of changes [3]

Comments welcome!

Is there anyone to volunteer? Lewis, you're surely the man
with the most experience in spinning release candidates?
But releasing Nutch is well documented [2] and should be
possible by every committer. I could do it but not before
next week.

Thanks,
Sebastian

Hello, URLNormalizerSlash is not ready and must be postponed to the next release, if included at all. I will look at some of the trivial and minor issues that are commitable.

Re: [DISCUSS] Release Apache Nutch 1.10

Tyler Palsulich
The Tika community just voted to start the release process for Tika 1.8. Unfortunately, Tika 1.7 contains some hidden LGPL code (TIKA-1581). So, it is probably worth blocking this release until Nutch can upgrade Tika again. I'll be happy to provide a patch as soon as Tika 1.8 is released.
