Error running randomwriter

Richard Yang-3
Hello,

I have been trying to run the sample sort program, but I could not even run
the randomwriter to generate random data to be sorted.

Here is the beginning of the error message:

07/03/03 06:12:15 INFO mapred.InputFormatBase: Total input paths to process

07/03/03 06:12:16 INFO mapred.JobClient: Running job: job_0005

07/03/03 06:12:17 INFO mapred.JobClient:  map 0% reduce 0%

07/03/03 06:13:20 INFO mapred.JobClient: Task Id :

task_0005_m_000000_0, Status : FAILED

07/03/03 06:13:21 INFO mapred.JobClient: 07/03/03 06:13:15 WARN

mapred.TaskTracker: Error running child

        at org.apache.hadoop.dfs.NameNode.create(NameNode.java:248)

Could anyone suggest what went wrong or how to correct this?? Thank you.

Best Regards

This means that your cluster doesn't have any datanodes and was
trying to create a file on hdfs. I've create a bug report on the
issue: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-1068
