I am not sure who is responsible for Atomic Updates and nested documents, it would be really great to get https://github.com/apache/lucene-solr/pull/1030 into 8.4.

To have consistent API unsetting nested documents should work the same as unsetting regular fields. For regular fields this is possible and also documented.

Does solr support setting a value as null at the moment?

 

I wonder whether this is the way to go, since you can delete the child document using the nested atomic update delete operation.
